Stronger Quality Systems, Growing Auditors: The MOVARA Pilot

A useful internal audit helps a company see how work is actually getting done. Are requirements clear? Do records support the decisions being made? Where could a missed handoff become a repeat problem? Those questions can also create meaningful learning opportunities for people developing their auditing skills.
At RiddickanCo and MOVARA, we’re developing an affordable, clearly scoped ISO 9001 internal-audit pilot that connects those needs. The aim is practical support for companies, paired with supervised experience for developing auditors. The pilot is still being designed; pricing, participation and scheduling will be confirmed separately.

Founder Toriano Riddick Jr. brings U.S. Navy aviation quality-assurance leadership, regulated manufacturing and nuclear/energy experience, and contract ISO 9001 lead-auditor work. RiddickanCo also offers internal audits, audit-readiness reviews, quality-system consulting and corrective-action support.
Internal-audit and consulting engagements are scoped separately from third-party certification work. Certification decisions remain with the certification body; consulting does not promise certification. Engagements are screened for conflicts, including organizations Toriano audits for certification.
Start with the company’s real needs
The proposed journey begins with an employer intake and company profile: what you do, which processes you want reviewed, your quality management system’s current stage and the outcomes you’re working toward. That information would help us discuss fit, boundaries and the time needed before agreeing to an engagement.
A focused review might examine a defined process such as purchasing, document control or corrective action. A limited scope must be described accurately; it does not establish that an entire management system conforms to ISO 9001. Any engagement would need agreed criteria, an audit plan, competent oversight and clear reporting.
Make the process understandable
Companies should know what happens before, during and after an audit. The proposed approach would explain the evidence needed, how interviews and sampling work, how findings are discussed and how the organization can plan follow-up. The purpose is to help people understand their system and act on useful evidence.
Private document handling is part of the design. Before collecting QMS records, we would need an agreed sharing method, access limits and retention arrangements. Please don’t put confidential records in a public profile or general inquiry form. Confidential uploads should wait until an approved private workflow is confirmed for your engagement.

Build experience with supervision
The auditor-development goal is hands-on participation with a competent supervisor: preparing questions, reviewing authorized evidence, observing interviews and learning to write clear findings. Responsibilities would match each participant’s demonstrated ability, with the company’s agreement and appropriate confidentiality protections.
We would document the work performed, the participant’s role and supervision. Whether that experience counts toward a particular auditor credential depends on the current rules and acceptance of that certification scheme. Participation would not automatically award recognized audit days, personnel certification or employment. Internal-audit work must also remain separate from conflicting third-party certification responsibilities.

For employers, the longer-term aim is stronger internal capability: people who understand the process, take ownership of improvements and can grow into new responsibilities. Supporting that development may contribute to retention, but retention and hiring outcomes are never guaranteed.
